3. What are the types of Finishes available?
Tiles are available in Matte, Satin Matte, Gloss, Semi-Gloss, Polished, Nano Polish, Special Effects, Batik, Metallic, Ultra Gres (Anti Slip), Engraved and Sugar finishes.
4. What is the difference between ceramic tiles and porcelain tiles?
The main difference is the rate of water absorption. Porcelain tiles have a lower rate of absorption than ceramic tiles.
5. What is meant by the shade and calibre of a tile?
Ceramic products, made from natural materials and high-temperature firing, may show slight variations in color shade and tile dimensions between batches. To ensure a uniform finish, tiles are grouped by shade and calibre before packaging, with these details clearly marked on each pack’s label. For best results when laying tiles, always use products from the same shade and calibre group.
6. How to grout tile properly?
Only grout tiles once they’re firmly bonded to the floor. Wait roughly 24 hours after laying your tiles before starting the grouting process. We suggest using Macktiles Waterproofing Tile Grout for your surface. Begin by thoroughly cleaning the joints to remove any dust or dirt. Apply the grout between the joints using a rubber trowel. Let the grout dry for about 20-30 minutes before cleaning the surface with a wet sponge. It’s important not to let the grout dry for too long, as it will become difficult to remove.
7. Can floor tiles be installed on walls? Or wall tiles on floors?
Floor tiles can be used on walls. However, it is not recommended to use wall tiles on the floor.
8. What is the best way to select bathroom tiles?
When choosing bathroom tiles, first consider your desired color scheme or design. Lighter hues are excellent for making smaller bathrooms feel more spacious, while darker colors truly shine in larger bathrooms with ample lighting. Ultimately, your tile color choice can set the perfect mood for the room and make a powerful statement. Don’t hesitate to mix and match tiles to discover the ideal combination for your space.
9. Do you provide a warranty for tiles?
A warranty is not currently available for tiles. However, Macktiles are manufactured in compliance with ISO 9001:2008 quality standards to ensure a high-quality product. If a manufacturing defect is found, the tiles can be replaced.
10. Will the colour of the floor tiles and wall tiles fade over time?
Under normal use, our tiles will not fade. However, metallic finish tiles may react and fade if strong chemical cleaners are used during routine maintenance.
11. Is it possible to lay tiles without applying grout?
Tiling without grout is generally not recommended. Even with rectified tiles, a minimum of 1mm, and ideally 2mm, of grouting is advised.
12. How to clean my floor tiles?
Maintain your ceramic and porcelain tiles with regular sweeping or vacuuming. These tiles are easily cleaned using water and standard commercial detergents, requiring no special polishing or waxing. Their low dirt retention also helps prevent bacterial growth. For routine maintenance, avoid cleaners containing acid or bleach, wax/oil-based detergents, and harsh aids like steel wool or metal scouring pads, which can scratch the surface. Use sealants only on grout joints. Note: Do not use colored cleaning agents on unglazed tiles.
